Upcoming Parade Info
George
Trollman, Jim Harget, Marge Scooros and many of the SBTJS
jammers and parasolers are the people who have continually
represented South Bay Traditional Jazz Society at these parade
events. The May 16 Los Altos Pet parade is a great introduction
to parade participation. This parade is a very short parade,
ideal for first time parasolers! Be a star! Join the parade!
Email
or Call George at 408-234-7117 to let him know how
you would like to participate as a parasoler (we provide the
parasols), driver or rigger. If you would like to play in
the parade, Email
or call Jim Harget at 408-371-9191.

Redwood
City 4 th of July Parade, 2006
We
had an excellent showing at the Redwood City
4 th of July Parade . The majority of the applause
was for our terrific parasolers, Kay McIntyre, Helen McCrea,
and Ed Connor. Our sincere thanks go to them and our parade
band, which included Ken Newell (trumpet), Bob Andersen (trombone),
Maddaline Edstrom (keyboard), and Bob Gibson (bass guitar).
George Trollman, as usual, provided and pulled the trailer
and Tom and Jacqueline Howell drove the red convertible appropriately
decorated for the 4th. Thank you all for another successful
parade event!

Los
Altos Pet Parade May 14, 2005
This
was the season kickoff parade. As you can see in the photos,
George Trollman's truck and trailer provided the mobile venue
for the Pastoria Jazz Band. Tom Howell orginized the event
and brought his red convertable. Jacqueline Howell, Mary Jane
Barber, and Millie Winsberg rode in the red convertable. Laurita
Cattour did the Cake walk for the entire parade route. This
a short but fun parade. Our band went around the route twice.
The varity of pets was amazing, including gold fish and a
python.

4th
of July Parade
The South Bay Traditional Jazz Society fielded a band and
strutters for the 4th of July Parade in Redwood City under
the direction of Tom Howell. In the Organizations category,
our band won the first place prize of $350 and other $100
for Novelty. Musicians are at a premium on this holiday, so
these awards are especially meaningful to those who came forward
to participate. As the saying goes, “Service is the
rent that you pay for room on this earth.”
